The five of Duddo in Northumberland

Like so many prehistoric sacred sites in England, this circle is set in a low ground, close to the river tweed. It stands on an isolated knoll. It has a diameter of about 28 feet and consists of 5 rather large stones. It is likely that the number of stones would have been greater. the height of the survivors are 5 to 7.5 feet. All are naturally shaped blocks of the local sandstone. Date c. 1600-1000b.c.
